ICE3D: Ice Accretion & Water Runback

ICE3D is the 3-D ice accretion module of the FENSAP-ICE system. ICE3D piggybacks on existing CFD analyses (FENSAP, FLUENT, CFX or any other CFD code), and solves fine-grain partial differential equations of thermodynamics to yield 3-D ice shapes (rime or glaze), water film thickness, beads and rivulets distributions over arbitrarily complex bodies (complete aircraft-turboprop and turbofans, helicopters, jet engines, UAVs, etc.)

ICE3D eliminates the pain of remeshing via automatic regridding of iced geometries for multiple accretion layers. This significantly reduces user intervention, and increases ice shape accuracy in glaze ice conditions.

ICE3D is also applicable to a wide variety of other water management, water film thickness and accretion rate prediction situations such as on windshields, windows, mirrors and grills of vehicles, among others.
