J-FLO: Blazing-fast CFD & Optimal Design

The J-FLO aerodynamic design software is written by Professor Antony Jameson (Intelligent Aerodynamics), a leading light of CFD and a pioneer of Optimal Control Aerodynamics.

J-FLO will yield an optimal wing shape to satisfy targets of minimum drag at constant lift or highest lift for a given drag, thus leading to lowest weight, longest range and best SFC.

J-FLO automatically generates structured or unstructured body-conforming grids and applies optimal control of the flow equations by varying the shape of the boundary mesh point-by-mesh point. Using control theory, the resulting gradient can be determined with roughly the cost of two flow solutions, independently of the number of design variables.

Variants of J-FLO include CFD Analysis (no design) and/or Design Optimization, both using Euler or Navier-Stokes equations.
