Ice Protection System Design
NTI’s ice protection systems (IPS) design methodology is applicable to both bleed-air and electrical systems.
NTI’s methodology provides maximum protection with minimum power and weight, and optimal holes/sensors/relief valves’ location and distribution.
NTI’s 3-D approach is truly scientific and not heuristic and can provide:
- Trade-off study of different ice protection systems,
- Impingement limits and collection efficiency for complex configurations,
- Optimal electro-thermal power and cycling,
- System performance for anti-icing and de-icing protection,
- System performance at off-design conditions,
- Residual ice,
- NTI can conduct sensitivity analyses of airfoils to evaluate potential for out-of-envelope or unusual icing formations,
- Design review by expert team spanning the scientific, experimental and operational aspects of the icing problem.
