Demonstration of compliance requires some combination of CFD analysis, icing tunnel, dry air tunnel, flight-testing with ice shapes, and flight in measured natural icing conditions.

Access to Test Facilities

NTI can secure access for icing tunnel time and support at the most appropriate installation for a given aircraft, rotorcraft or instrument-type.

Test Facility Design

NTI can prepare the tests at the facility and perform design work for the test model, the instrumentation required and, the optimal number of sensors and their locations.

Test Preparation and Support

NTI assists its customers in establishing a test matrix (optimal number of test points to minimize tunnel time) according to airworthiness regulations and applicable advisory material. In addition, NTI performs CFD-based similitude analyses, scientifically interpret test results, and deliver comprehensive test reports.
